La Conversation

Today was one of our dip into the 10% days where I ate gluten and Carl was vegetarian.

Fresh Squeezed Grapefruit Juice
Eggless Burrito spinach, mushrooms, grilled onions, avocado and basil
Dante’s Breakfast Special scrambled eggs, pumpkin pancakes, roasted potatoes and fruit

On Sunday we had a small group for brunch and decided on to go to one of our all time favorites, La Conversation. Dave, Patrick and Emily joined us on Doheny for a leisurely meal and made for great company. It is never too crowded, the wait never too long and always delicious. Their fresh squeezed grapefruit and orange juices make for the most delicious mimosas and screwdrivers, both of which were enjoyed at our table. They don’t have a full liquor license so the vodka is a Korean vodka made from sweet potatoes, great for the gluten free. After the drinks arrived they brought around their famous pastry basket. Sorry vegans, no can do. Finding the will power to resist those perfect little glazed croissants is the toughest part about eating at La Conversation. I focused on the delicious meal to come and enjoyed my juice while I patiently waited. I ordered an eggless burrito which typically comes with chicken, cheese, spinach, mushrooms and onions. They were very amenable to making the necessary changes I requested and the end result, YUM! I don’t know how they do it but they wrap their burritos to perfection. It can actually stand up vertically and not tip over! If you’re in the mood for something else, they have plenty of salad options that are easily amendable to be vegan or vegetarian, as well as a vegetarian sandwich and several side dishes. If you’re vegetarian go for the pumpkin pancakes, they are not to be missed.

I will get the same thing as I’ve done every time before! Not sure what else to say other than I found something I love and I’m sticking to it! I may, however, try to convince them to make a vegan version of the pumpkin pancake so the rest of us can indulge.
